YOU'RE INVITED - S.E.A. Construction and Shell Building Systems invites the public to watch us Build Green at 466 Felton Drive, Menlo Park, on July 22, 2008 using Structural Insulated Panels (SIP). The process is fast, innovative, exciting, and ultimately rewarding for homeowners and the environment.

As a leader in residential remodeling, S.E.A. Construction is dedicated to staying at the forefront of technology while keeping the health of the environment in mind. We have partnered with Shell Building Systems, an innovative environmental building company, who began building the first SIP projects in California as early as 1971.

WHAT IS GREEN BUILDING - Green building is a strategy that maximizes both economic and environmental performance instantly beneficial to the client and the environment. Green construction can be integrated into buildings at any stage, from new design and construction, to renovation and deconstruction. It is a responsible, common sense approach to design and construction that can provide immediate benefits both environmentally and economically using products and technologies specifically designed for this purpose.

WHAT ARE SIPs - SIPs are Structural Insulated Panels. They are high performance building panels composed of two wood skins (harvested from sustainably managed forests), and a core of rigid foam insulation composed of 98% air. The foams are made of non-chlorofluorocarbon that does not threaten the earth's ozone layer. The panels can be used in exterior walls, roofs, and floors for residential and commercial construction. SIP building saves energy, generates less carbon dioxide emissions, and because the panels are prefabricated, SIPs save time, labor and money.
