Managers

Managers of design-only firms supervised an average of 6 employees. Some 63% received a raise in 2006, and of the remainder, 46% received one the year before. Average raise received was $8,404.

Managers received an average of 11 vacation days and 5 paid holidays, but just three sick days.

Seventy-seven percent of managers have a medical plan. In single coverage, costs are split 59% employer, 41% employee; for family plans the split is 34% employer and 66% to the manager.

Forty nine percent of managers received a Christmas or year-end bonus, averaging $1,494; 30% received a performance bonus averaging just over $10,000. Just 9% of managers get a company car.

Nearly two-thirds of the managers surveyed had a college diploma or graduate education.

Managers polled had an average of 12 years in the business and worked for companies that had been in business an average of 17 years.
